Yup. And with medium, the writing is not even the primary thing. A lot of people think it is. But that leads to a place where you can never stop writing. Because the feed trudges on and eventually our writing disappears.

Which is why I tell people they need to build a list. My writing isn’t the asset I will have when all the work is done. My list is. I will write my butt off to build a list. And if a piece doesn’t get views and clicks, I will delete it and rewrite it, make it stronger, better, so it reaches more people.

Because if I write consistently enough, and hone my work to reach more people, the asset I’ll have at the end is a list that no one owns but me.
