You nailed it at the end of the second paragraph when you said they don’t want to feel responsible for his death. Same with Seth’s school and Asher’s school and far too many.

That comment about a 12 year old. Man, let me tell you what I’d like to tell that person. Asher never said he was gay. Never “came out” to anyone. His classmates decided he was gay and tormented him. Just like Eli, he’s still dead. God, it hurts my heart.

I’ve been a supporter of the LGBTQ community for decades and the amount of pain is unacceptable. I love the happy stories, too. But sometimes I so want to turn the pain back on the people causing it.
