You make a lot of great points. (abs of steal) — too funny. I don’t have a problem with people discussing salary because when discussing salary was taboo, there was too much room for wage disparity in the workforce.

That said, motivation is a key factor. Some people (Shannon, as you mentioned and a handful of other women here) are truly trying to help. Others are playing a click game. In a world where half the population lives 2 paychecks from disaster, writing about money is almost a sure click.

It is even more insidious when the person has a big audience because even if 5% of their audience claps, social proof kicks in and I don’t need to explain the rest — you already did. Well said.
