Women were not always allowed to own property. It's more of a pendulum. Women had more rights in ancient Rome than they had in the early days of America. For example, NY was the first US state to require a woman’s consent if her husband tried to sell property she brought to the marriage. That was 1771. Before that, not so much.

You're right that it's "acts" -- plural. Not everyone changed the laws at the same time. Glad you enjoyed the fun parts -- me, too! :)
