When I was in school, there were no dress codes. Girls wore bare shoulders and shorts in summer and didn’t get sent home. Everyone was allowed to say no, and before school dances some teacher would talk about rejecting politely because we are not obligated to dance because we are asked, but manners are free — and worth mentioning that I do NOT live in a forward thinking sort of place. Why are schools going backwards?
