When I was a teen, you were probably in diapers. Back then, there were boys who wouldn't take no for an answer, force her legs apart, get her too drunk to fight -- and boys who would NEVER do that. That's not age or era, it's character.

We use the word "kids" as though we're talking about 2 year olds. A six year old knows right from wrong. I know the grey matter isn't fully developed until 21-ish. But still -- a generation or two up from me, people were married with kids in their teens.

Maybe it's not about whether we can hold people to what they did as kids. Maybe it's that character shows young. I'm not sure character changes. Maybe age just perfects the mask of public palatability.
