What a sad story, beautifully told. It made me cry. For him, and so many like him. my family among them. English was not my first language, though I have long forgotten the one I learned first. Family gatherings were a mix of English, Czech, Ukrainian and Russian, all speaking at the same time. If I remember back to childhood, I can almost hear the way the mirror man sounded.
