Well of course a patriarchal system would treat the planet like the ultimate female body. Even the names we give the planet are feminine. Mother Earth. Mother nature.

Now you are dipping a foot into what feminists have been saying and experiencing for 100 years. Patriarchal men, old rich men like Trump and Putin and many others — those men do not want women to be equal. They do not perceive anything feminine as having value beyond their own use.

It was never that they thought women had no worth. Just that our worth was for their own use.

And even (too many) men who are not old rich men protest equality. A poor man will never have those riches. A poor man will never have a private jet or 5 vacation homes. But here’s what he can have — a woman who will wash his clothes and cook his meals and defer to him as the head of the house.

If he does not have “at least” that, then what does he have? Nothing. So he will not give that up easily. Dammit, if he is going to be nothing out in the world, he is at least going to be “something” in his own home.

So what do we do? How do we get to a place where the entire world is not about taking, taking — until there is nothing left? How do we get to a place where people and “mother earth” is nurtured instead of abused?

We have to see feminine as equal to masculine. This is what feminism has been about all along. Thank you for this post!! ❤
