We Need To Talk Like Mature Adults About Why AI Isn’t Really Writing

Every time I write about AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) people come along and say we need to stop “fighting” AI because it’s here to stay.

Yes, AI is here to stay. That’s why we need to talk about it.

Like mature adults.

Not like children with their hands caught in a cookie jar.

Last August a lawyer faced court sanctions and possible disbarment for using AI to prepare a court brief. The judge did not impose sanctions on him because the lawyer admitted he’d used ChatGPT. He owned up, disclosed use of AI and said it was a good faith mistake.

Two other lawyers did face court sanctions and were fined thousands.

Because they stood in front of a judge and argued like kids with their hands caught in the cookie jar. Defended their mistakes. So he fined them.

That’s the world we’re living in.

According to Forbes, colleges are sending unqualified people into careers and positions like nurses, engineers, and firefighters and why? Because they used ChatGPT to write their assignments…
