We do this all women’s lives. Just different words based on age. Well why were you there? Did you fight? Why didn’t you just leave? Always looking at what the women didn’t do in response, that she “should have” done.

There’s a funny thing people often don’t understand. We all know of the “fight or flight” response. But that’s inaccurate. It’s actually “fight, flight or freeze.” Animals often freeze when it becomes apparent that they cannot flee the predator chasing them down and they cannot fight. They just plumb shut down. Humans do it, too.
