Viruses are live things that want to survive, too. In order to infect, they must have a host. People are going out because places are open. Shut the airlines, shut non essential businesses and it would be eradicated pretty quickly. Many countries have done just that.

All the crap about the "economy" is nonsense. A short shutdown with government assistance to pay everyone would beat the heck out of dragging it out for a year so all the small businesses go under and only the mega-corps survive.
