Using perhaps to be snide is probably preferable to using it to avoid committing to an opinion. Ambiguity is weak. Snide is just snide. :)
With very and really — kind of depends what you’re trying to say, no? I mean, if you were saying “I’m very cold” I’d suggest “I’m freezing” — but that would make no sense at at if you’re very hungry. See? Then famished would be better. It’s like the caterpillar said. Depends where you want to go…
