America, are you ashamed enough to get rid of him yet?

Last April, Dr. Claire Rezba started tracking all the health care workers that die of Covid. By April, she’d identified almost 200. By August, over 1000.

Rezba is an anesthesiologist in Richmond, Virginia and she’s frustrated, because the CDC numbers are wrong. When the CDC issued its first report, they said the death toll was 27. It wasn’t. It was almost 200. At some point, it became a mission, she told CBS news. To remember their sacrifices.

“It evolved into a sense of purpose that these sacrifices shouldn’t go unnoticed.” — Dr. Claire Rezba

Doctors treat everyone who needs their help, including Donald Trump and Covid deniers.

Some people get infected through no fault of their own. They do all the right things. Social distancing. Wearing a mask. And they still get infected. Often by people who did not do everything right.

But sometimes, covid-deniers get covid, too. No shortage of those in the news. The guy in Texas whose family was shattered. The man who believed it was a hoax until his wife died. There is no shortage of stories of people who didn’t wake up to the reality until it hit their family. Hard.

It’s not just the patients who die. Healthcare workers die, too.

Dr. Frank Gabrin, the first to fall. Adeline Fagan was 28 years old and forced to reuse PPC because of shortages. She died. Dr. Madhvi Aya was a doctor in Brooklyn, working with coronavirus patients. Just before she died, her daughter sent her a text. I miss you Mommy. Mommy never came home.

Doctors, nurses, EMTs. They are the people on the front lines. They are the people who do whatever needs to be done. Longer shifts. Reusing PPC. Holding hands, texting family and hearing last words. And some of them fall. Thousands, so far.

The Clown in the White House thinks it’s okay to insult healthcare workers during a pandemic.

On Friday, October 30, Donald Trump claimed doctors are inflating the coronavirus death count for monetary gain.

“Our doctors get more money if someone dies from Covid. You know that, right? I mean, our doctors are very smart people. So what they do is they say ‘I’m sorry but everybody dies of Covid,’” — Donald Trump

How dare he.

Who else would attack healthcare workers as the country faces its worst public health emergency in more than 100 years?

The American Medical Association responded instantly. Dr. Susan Bailey, president of the American Medical Association issued a written statement.

“The suggestion that doctors — in the midst of a public health crisis — are overcounting COVID-19 patients or lying to line their pockets is a malicious, outrageous, and completely misguided charge. Throughout this pandemic, physicians, nurses, and frontline health care workers have risked their health, their safety and their lives to treat their patients and defeat a deadly virus…”
— Dr. Susan Bailey, president, AMA

The news is blowing up, and he loves it. Because gosh, everyone is talking about him again, and that’s all that matters. That’s how narcissists work. He needs to be the center of attention. And that’s what abusers do. They abuse.

It doesn’t matter what he says, his followers will still follow him. Because racism, anti-abortion and keeping Karen’s neighborhood safe.

His minions will be repeating it within hours. Because bleach wasn’t enough. And hey, if his followers are angry at doctors, it fires them up even more.

The Vanity Fair Headline went for blunt.

America, are you ashamed enough to get rid of him yet?

Barack Obama said it best when he said he just wants the news not to be exhausting anymore.

Because it is. It’s exhausting. Mentally. Emotionally.

That’s also what narcissists do. They suck the air out of a room. They exhaust everyone around them until they can barely function. And they feed on your damn energy. And that’s what he’s doing.

And the whole world is watching.

I’m not American, I am Canadian, and I am insulted for your doctors. Anyone who attacks front line healthcare workers who risk their lives every day to care for sick and dying during a pandemic? That man does not deserve to sit in the White House.

Going out to vote isn’t enough.

Not enough. Find someone who needs a ride. Volunteer to drive people who don’t have transportation. Call your local democratic office and ask them if you can help make sure voters can get out to vote.

Because you know — know — he is going to try to stack the electoral college. He is going to try to steal the election. And I am not sure the world can take 4 more years of him in the news. I don’t think America can, that’s for sure.

A complete blue sweep is the only way to tell him enough.

Because that’s what you do with a narcissist. You do not give them even a foot in the door. Shut. them. down.

“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” — Benjamin Franklin
