That is the place America’s heading now. The average person is already broke, indebted, weary, anxious. Imagining that during a second Trump term they are going to somehow mount a noble battle against authoritarianism is a fantasy.
To add to the problem, 84% of Americans cannot read above grade school level. Just 12% of Americans can read at what we consider high school literacy level and only 2% have college level literacy.
We laugh at Trump's twitter rants, and at the idea of falling for Russian news-bot garbage on Facebook, but that is the level of literacy most Americans have.
So in addition to being broke, in debt and stressed out, many Americans do not have the literacy to educate themselves on the issues.
