This is good. Basics are so important, and so often overlooked. I had one lady come to me with a killer idea. She found a place to get deeply discounted children’s wear and wanted to sell kids clothes at $5 and less. 5 buck jeans, $3 sweaters. Because, OMG, people will flock to her site and tell everyone they know.
So I asked her if she was prepared to provide customer service to the volume of customers she’d need in order to make a decent income. Not to mention packing and shipping the orders.
I asked her if she realized the only way to buy clothing that cheap is to look the other way in regard to the people holed up in slavery conditions making them for pennies a day. Women and children, most likely.
I asked her if cheap, slave made clothing is the best thing she can offer to the world. She dumped the idea. She hadn’t thought of those things.
Most problems can be traced back to the basics. I lose a lot of potential clients by pointing out flaws in advance. But that’s my basics — I want to do work I can be proud of. Most problems can be traced back to the basics. ❤
