Whether that little business exploits anyone is still a choice. I am thinking of 2 little coffee shops locally. One buys fair trade coffee, while the other buys off the market, where farmers are horribly exploited.
And there’s always staffing practices, too. Some small business owners pay a living wage, while others pay minimum wage and hire only part time so there are no benefits due.
Sometimes I think it comes down to who we are as humans and our moral and social values.
