That’s a valid question for sure, Ben. I had a similar conversation with someone else about the same thing earlier in comments, too. I tried to temper the examples (a bit) by adding one of my own that’s purely entertainment driven and not even vaguely related to marketing my brand. What I wanted to focus on was technique (ie starting strong) more than the intent behind the writing. Interesting, though, to note that the handful of people who are intently focused on marketing their personal brand often have the strongest opening skills. If writers who write because they love the topic developed more of those skills, we might see an entirely different feed here.
