That’s a really good point, Emily. I actually think there were far more children than anyone knew or wanted to admit. I would venture to guess that each of those cottages had one “doc” (the eldest) and a bunch of kids. And yes, any dwarves were likely trafficked in. That was a common thing back then, giving oddities (like dwarves) as a gift to the King. If you check out the one about Beauty and The Beast, you’ll see the same thing happening there, too.
