Same has happened here. We have Trumpers in Canada, too and whenever an SUV drives by with multiple Canadian flags waving from everywhere they can stick a flag, everyone knows it's a far-right radical. No one else flies the Canadian flag anymore because everyone will think that's what they are. It's kind of sad.
