Reading time is literally a calculation of how much time a reader spent on the page. But that’s a different metric than a view vs a read. A view means someone clicked the story. Then Medium tries to log how long they spent on the story to factor earnings. But, the person is only marked as a “read” if they finished reading the entire story.
So a fast reader ( I read fast, too. 600 words/minute) won’t rack up as much “read time” but if they completed the story, they should still be marked as a read. I just wonder if something changed in how they calculate whether a reader read the whole story or not.
