Omg, serious? I can't even imagine deleting it all. I have a bizarre method of writing, though. I start with 2 headings. Story and Notes. All the junk and thoughts go under the notes part. then I move them to the story part. When the story is done, then I check if anything in the notes got missed and then finally I delete when the story is done. Odd, but it works for me. God - for sure tell them NO DELETING till it's done. lol
