Omg, Frances — yes, exactly. And he wasn’t a “monster” the way he was depicted in movies. He was just a man. And an intelligent one, at that. He could read and write. It was all the rejection and revulsion that made him go insane and kill people. Kind of aches to think of her writing about the isolation the monster felt — because she was writing about herself.
