I’m not ready to kill the sparks in her eyes. Will I ever be ready for that? I silently promise myself, her and the rest of the world, that I will find a way to let her know — not today, not tomorrow, maybe next year, or when she is old enough… but I swear, I won’t allow her to go to any talent show.
Oh, I hope you don’t. Lots of people said Bob Dylan couldn’t sing. She’s only four. Her voice will change. Sometimes when people are bad at singing it’s not actually the singing, it’s the hearing. All that aside, you’re her Mom. Moms are the one person a child can count on to always have their back. To be their safe space. When she gets older, maybe she can take singing lessons. If she doesn’t improve, better for a singing teacher to tell her than for Mom to tell her. Cause Moms are supposed to be the safe landing place when someone in the world says “you suck” — not the one saying it. ❤
