No, I didn’t miss the point. Nowhere did I say financial wealth is a priority. What I said is that if I had 6 months to live, I’d stop worrying about whether I can retire in financial peace — because DUH, if I’m dying in 6 months retirement becomes a non issue. I only control what I write, I don’t control what you read into it.

Every adult has to pay mind share to the financial needs of living, as well as ensuring there’s money set aside for retirement. Do you have kids to support and sick, aging parents to provide for as well as retirement looming ahead of you? I’m gonna guess no, since you’re 19.

Not to put TOO fine a point on it, but telling people to live like they have 6 months left is the stupidest advice I’ve ever heard. If we were all told we are going to die in 6 months, we’d spend those days much (much!!) differently than if we have to anticipate the financial needs of having a family and preparing for retirement.
