“Nice” men and “sweet” guys don’t rape women. My mom used to say you don’t judge someone’s character when the sun is shining on them. It’s when the chips are down that you get to see who they really are.

That seems to be a common error in judgement among us humans. We look at how people behave when life is favorable to them and think that’s their character. It’s not. How they act when the chips are down — that’s who they are. They just hide that when everything is going their way.
