Nanowrimo just ended Monday. (How is it December already?)

Now a whole bunch of people are going to submit their “books” to publishers. I wish I could tell them all — please don’t. Really. Don’t. I know you wrote 50K words. But honestly, it’s not a manuscript. It’s the rough idea of a book.

Can I tell you a secret? Publishers and editors who receive submissions in December and January know a lot of those submissions are Nano drafts. They don’t want a mess of words pumped out on a 30 day writing slog, with no edits or revisions.
