My ex used to do that. "Tell her to settle down" and "tell her not to be so loud". That's not fair for one parent to put that on another. So then my ex started being the one to tell her to settle down, stop running, etc.

When my kid grew up, know how she remembers family outings? Dad telling her to settle down, be quiet, don't get so wound up, and sometimes just walking out on us and picking us up later. It makes me sad to think that's how she remembers stuff that was supposed to be happy family outings.

I think a better plan is to figure out which outings work for everyone to avoid those scenarios in the first place. And the mulligan was brilliant. Great idea.
