Most people do not have the capacity. It's like trying to pour 8 ounces of fluid into a 4 ounce cup. I am currently reading Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving by Pete Walker. (link at bottom)

He says an interesting thing. He says if every problem stemming from childhood neglect, abuse and bad parenting was removed from the DSM5, the remainder would be the size of a thin pamphlet.

He explains that being able to hold space for someone's pain is a level of intimacy many people are not capable of. It's an excellent read. I think anyone who's ever suffered abuse, depression, addiction, anxiety, panic attacks should read the book. It's the first in a trilogy. I plan to read all 3.

On your book... ever consider making it a fiction? No one will ever sue you, and people will read every word and never once paint you with the brush of disbelief.

Sorry this was so long! Link if you're interested.
