Medium is a relatively open forum, within their guidelines. Their guidelines are very specific about what content is prohibited here. Some of it slips through, of course. It happens. But there are definitely guidelines.

Even the internet isn’t an “open” forum because even hosting companies have content guidelines. Unless they’re offshore and have no such regulations. Which also happens.

If we want a truly open forum to speak our minds, we have to get hosting in a country with no content regulations, and then we can say what we want. Otherwise, we are bound to the rules of the platform we choose.
