Me, too! For me, it behaves normally if I’m replying to a comment on one of my own stories, but if I’m commenting I get the new way. You’re so right — it messes up how I enjoy posts, too. I like to highlight and comment as I go and now I’m commenting less. I doubt that was their goal, but who knows. Maybe they want more “original stories” and less commenting on stories. Which seems silly, but if they don’t tell us, guessing is all we’ve got. lol
