Maybe not so much turning as spiraling. Downwards.

I read an op ed that said the Trump presidency has shown the world that on the global front, America isn’t as important as we’d thought — that what we learned from the Trump administration is that world leaders can laugh at the American president and go about their business and not much changes on the global front.

That has deeper consequence if you really think about it.
