Many of the writers who inspire me do not share deeply personal details. I think of Seth Godin, Mary Oliver, Margaret Atwood — I don’t know a thing about their personal lives and it doesn’t change the power of their work to affect me.

You’re so right — sharing those details is a choice and an option, but never a shortcut. I liked that a lot.
