Knights were all nobles. Poor men didn’t get to be knights, they only got to be serfs, which meant they worked the land and had to pay for anything they ‘took’ from the land because it belonged to the knight.

Just part of the long history of rich white men having slaves. Being rich white men, I guess they got to bed whoever they wanted, for the most part.
