Katie Hill’s resignation sent a signal to men, loud and clear — revenge porn works. Shame works. Humiliation works. Abuse works.

Katie Hill’s resignation sent a signal to women, too. Don’t make other people uncomfortable because of your husband’s abuse. Of course, she didn’t invent that message. It’s been drummed into women for centuries. It’s why so many women who aren’t political or prominent or wealthy stay in bad relationships. Better to suffer alone than to make the people who ‘care’ about us suffer, too.

I wish Katie Hill had called the biggest damn press conference in American history and announced that she will resign when Kava-nope resigns, when there is not a pedophile in the White House.

I feel sad for her. Make no mistake, what happened to her is abuse. I just wish that she’d stood up and said it’s not okay and she’s not being shamed out of the game. Men aren’t shamed out of the game. Why should she be?
