Joe — lol. When I was a kid, Mom had a giant dictionary that sat in the hall closet with the phone book. Biggest dictionary I’ve seen in my life. I’d sit cross legged on the floor and read it. For fun. To discover new words. By 3th grade, I had a college vocabulary, according to standardized tests.

But, as you say, we don’t write for us. My vocabulary makes reading easy for me. I don’t have to look up much. Not sure I should use my vocabulary to make reading harder for other people, though. Which you also point out. No point throwing up hurdles if we want to be read.

You gave me an idea for another post, so thanks!!

P.S. Nice to see you again. I like when faces become familiar. Hope all is well in your part of the world. :)
