It’s truly amazing how many things existed in the Roman era and then had to be reinvented. The same applies to surgical processes that existed long ago and then disappeared only to be reinvented. I read one piece about scientists finding evidence of brain surgery existing before in existed in modern times. Can’t remember details but shouldn’t be too hard to find if you’re curious.
