In order to do what they would have needed to do, "someone" would have had to pay all the people who aren't working. They aren't willing to do that. Billions on a war? Sure. Billions to save their own citizens from a pandemic that is going to wipe out millions before it's done? Nah... too expensive. Send the lazy butts back to work. The profit machine must forge on!!
