In a University of California study, the more fear a 4-year-old showed in a laboratory situation, the more conservative his or her political attitudes were found to be 20 years later. From that perspective, scaring the kids is brilliant if diabolical. Then again, if we don't get our collective crap together, the planet probably doesn't have 50 years. Then none of it will matter. Sigh.
