In a commencement speech, Neil Gaiman once said every day he wakes up sure that’s the day someone will knock on the door. It will be a man with a clipboard. There to tell him the gig’s up, he needs to get a real job. Because he’s not that good.

And me? I don’t even write books. I am almost always sure I will wake up one day and no one will want to read what I write. That it was a lovely dream but I’m awake now. That my words are insipid.
