If we want to blame the economy on one person, we can blame it on Milton Friedman and the introduction of shareholder primacy.

In the last 42 years, CEO salaries have gone up 1100% while worker salaries have gone up 10.9%. Minimum wage has not kept pace with the cost of living. If it had, it would be over $20/hour.

Where do those rich CEOs think consumers are going to get the money to keep spending like it's 1978?

Today, congress is a millionaire's club and half of Americans are broke.

The only way to turn this around is a blue sweep. Doesn't matter who the president is if the senate is dominated by Republicans. Sweep out the senate. Start over. It's not a perfect solution but it's the only way to affect any change from where things are now.
