I was reading an article on a Lit site recently and the writer said “our literary iconography is still too white and too male” and I wanted to scream “what in the world isn’t?!!?!

But of course one can’t respond that way because *some* men automatically assume I’m an angry, ugly man-hater and probably fat , none of which I am l, not that it would matter…

but then the entire conversation gets railroaded and descends into point, counterpoint but there is no point because it was lost long before that.

So, too often, we say nothing and the point doesn’t get made. Which is a very long way of saying thank you for making the point.
