I used to teach K-8 art. Always struck that there were two kinds of kids. Most are like puppies. Granted, some are border collie puppies and you need seven sets of eyes to keep them safe. But a handful? Old souls with the world in their eyes. I figure you were one of the latter. I loved this piece.
