I Understand Why Writers Throw In The Towel And Just Stop Writing
How many times can we break our own hearts before we can’t anymore?
This morning, Jamie Jackson tagged me on a story. He’s crushed. Said he used to make $400 to $1000 per month here.
In October he made $32.
It’s not just here.
I’m not slamming Medium, so you know.
This place was where I started writing again after a long dry spell. I’d written through the year I was taking care of Dad while he was terminally ill. And then he died. And the words dried up.
Every time I tried to write, all the words escaped my fingers and leaked out of my eyes until I floated away to a place of no return.
And I just couldn’t. For so long.
Here is where I started to write again.
So I’m not slamming Medium.
If you’re struggling like me and Jamie, we’re just collateral damage. The platforms are figuring out direction and some of us fall. That’s all.
You know?
It’s like that one person who walked away and said it’s not personal. And maybe for them it wasn’t. But for you, it was very personal.
