You are so right, the industry is a mess. The reviews is one issue and there's so many other layers on top. Like, part of the reason they lose so much is they take a chance on a new author but then give them zero marketing budget.

I know one woman who had to scrape up the money to buy back the rights to her book when they took it out of print because it didn't out earn the advance, but it was the first in a trilogy. Sometimes I think I should write about that industry a bit more.
