I don't agree. We aren't being conditioned to accept mass death. The mass death occurring is an unfortunate side effect of oligarchy.
Anyone who works in emergency services knows that in times of emergency, there must (MUST!) be a chain of command.
Someone must step up and tell people what to do. EMS workers are taught that almost first before anything else.
In a global pandemic, the chain of command is the government. That's who people look to for direction. If the airlines are open, people will fly. If the bars are open, people will go drink. They will reason that if it's "not safe" those places would be shut down.
So why did chain of command fail? Money. Oligarchy. The wealthy control the government, not the other way around. All the deaths are not "conditioning" they are an unfortunate side effect of living in an oligarchy.
