I do write to get paid. No bones about that. I know people who say they don't write for money and are so tone deaf it's terrible. The I'm a lawyer or doctor, I don't need the money sort -- that's tone deaf and unnecessary. But I also know people who are barely scraping by. Crap for income and barely making ends meet but damnit, they're going to do something meaningful to them before their time is done whether they earn anything at it or not. That's not me, but I understand it. It's the braggers we could all use less of, I think.
