Honestly — you don’t. Because you’re right — it’s an unwelcome triggering event. And because saying sorry is still about you in that it’s to make you feel better. Telling her you’re sorry won’t erase what happened or the memory she will always have. But correcting conversations, not tolerating locker room crap, speaking out when women aren’t treated respectfully — those things matter on a go forward basis. I’m glad you do those things.
