Hi Roula — nice to meet you! No need to be shy, it’s lovely to have real conversations here in the comments. Isidra helpfully pointed out that when people highlight their own work, it allows them to post a image to Twitter instead of a text blurb, so that might be why people are doing it.

You’re very right that some of social media makes it easy for people to create closed loops where all they do is promote themselves. First time I realized most people use “tools” to post to Twitter and Facebook, I kind of lost interest. Not much fun talking to robots.

For me, I would never “name and shame” because I wouldn’t want anyone to name and shame me or someone I care about. Most of us eventually figure out who to keep reading and who to stop reading when we get tired of the incessant self promotion. Have a great weekend! :)
