1) Marie Catherine d'Aulnoy because she invented fairy tales and hers protested the patriarchy way back in 1690. Anne Boleyn is a close second but only because no one gave a damn enough to get her story right.

2) No, I don't think you can judge the past with today's lens. Maya Angelou once said she did what she could with what she knew and when she knew better, she did better. That applies to us, too.
