Hey Mike. I’ve discovered that the key to finding good reading here is to look hard at the tags we follow, modify if needed, and then use the mute feature mercilessly. The algorithm does a pretty good job if we throw it a bone and give it something to work with.

I figure on a site with a couple hundred thousand writers, if I can’t find good reading, I need to tweak something. Because it’s out there, and the question becomes why am I seeing tripe instead of treasure. You know?

As much as I dislike the “how much money I made on Medium” posts, I’m glad Medium doesn’t try to ban them. Other than things that must be banned (hate, abuse, etc) censorship quickly becomes a slippery slope. People would find ways to circumvent the rule, and censoring would have to adapt accordingly until it just got ugly all around. Much better to give us the mute button.
